The Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) is the constitutional body responsible for recruiting candidates to various civil, administrative, technical, and professional posts under the Government of Assam. Through competitive examinations and interviews, APSC ensures the selection of capable individuals for key roles in public service.
1. Combined Competitive Examination (CCE)
The CCE is the flagship exam of APSC, equivalent to the UPSC Civil Services Exam, and is held annually.

2. Departmental and Technical Services Examinations
APSC also conducts direct recruitment exams and interviews for various technical and departmental posts, such as:
- Assistant Engineers (AE) Civil, Electrical, Mechanical
- Junior Engineers (JE)
- Veterinary Officers
- Medical Officers (MO)
- Lecturer/Professor in Colleges
- Agriculture Development Officer (ADO)
- Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF)
- Assistant Soil Conservation Officer

APSC Combined Competitive Exam Pattern
1. Preliminary Exam (Objective Type)
- Paper I: General Studies I (200 marks) Indian Polity, History, Economy, Geography, Current Affairs, Assam GK, etc.
- Paper II: General Studies II (CSAT 200 marks) Aptitude, Reasoning, Decision Making, English Comprehension.
- Prelims act as a screening test for the Mains.
2. Main Examination (Descriptive Type)
- Essay (250 marks)
- General Studies I, II, III (250 marks each)
- Optional Subject: Paper I and II (250 marks each) Candidates choose from a list of subjects.
- Total: 1500 Marks
3. Interview / Personality Test
- Carries 275 marks
- Assesses personality traits, communication skills, and suitability for public service.
Eligibility Criteria
- Education: Bachelors degree from a recognized university.
- Age Limit:
- General Category: 21 to 38 years
- Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC/MOBC, 10 years for PWD
Language Proficiency
- Candidates must be proficient in Assamese or any other official language of Assam.

- Prelims: Focus on NCERTs, Assam GK, current affairs, aptitude, and reasoning.
- Mains: Emphasis on answer writing, Assam-specific content, and optional subject preparation.
